Filling a Need in France

In 2001, Damien Gouverneur of Auchy les mines, France was looking for a compact mower that could do more than just mow tight spaces.  He wanted a machine that could do both small and large areas and doing them beautifully.  What he found was the Walker Mower. 

Gouverneur’s background included working in gardening for a commonwealth, but when he struck out on his own in 2001, he wanted to provide a finished product for customers that would keep them happy and grow his new business.  Today, GD Espaces Verts has between 50 and 60 private residences and 30 to 40 industrial accounts they maintain.  Damien together with his four employees do all of the work from landscape installations to maintenance. 

One strategy Damien has been using in the last few years is to sell his services by pointing out the 50% tax credit the French government is offering to private residences who use commercial contractors for their domestic work.  His business prowess is well developed, and it does not take long to learn that is what helps make the company successful.

“Time is money,” explains Gouverneur, “and a machine that can be used on large and small properties, is easy to transport and delivers a beautiful cut gives me everything we need.”  He says he is not shy about recommending the Walker to other customers: “Yes, definitely, the Walker replaces other machines.”

M. Gouverneur avait travaillé pour le Commonwealth, mais lorsqu’il s’installe à son compte en 2001, il souhaite apporter un résultat parfait à ses clients afin de les satisfaire pleinement et ainsi développer sa nouvelle entreprise. Aujourd'hui, GD Espaces Verts entretient entre 50 et 60 résidences privées et 30 à 40 comptes industriels. Damien, avec ses quatre employés, réalise tout le travail, de l’aménagement paysager à l'entretien.

Une des stratégies utilisées par Damien ces dernières années, a été de vendre ses services en soulignant le crédit d'impôt de 50% accordé par le gouvernement français aux résidences privées qui utilisent les entrepreneurs professionnels pour leurs travaux domestiques. Son business s’est bien développé et il ne faut pas longtemps pour comprendre ce qui a contribué à couronner l’entreprise de succès.

"Le temps c’est de l’argent", explique M. Gouverneur, "et une machine qui peut être utilisée sur les grandes et petites propriétés, est facile à transporter et offre une qualité de coupe m’apporte tout ce dont nous avons besoin." Il n'a ainsi pas peur de recommander la Walker aux autres clients: "Oui, la Walker remplace assurément d'autres machines."
